The whole family is impacted when there is one person with a substance use problem. Until we call it what it is, it is like the elephant in the room. In this supportive group setting, family members will learn about the disease of addiction and also gain effective tools and skills to interact with the substance abuser. The goal is to refrain from playing an enabling role. Even when the substance abuser begins on the recovery path, the family may find itself in need of assistance as the family roles move back into their healthy boundaries.
